Networking

I have just got back from a Network North business meeting where I was asked to address the audience as a guest; I was very nervous but enjoyed meeting the new people. Also IT Consultancy is a very dry subject to talk about to a non IT audience had it been a room full of IT guys it would have been easy! I could have told them about some of the new projects we are developing and the technical projects which we are working on. But for an audience of business people I decided to talk about the people who work in our business and why I chose the North East as the place to start Aspire.

I am very passionate about IT and our region and I think that sometimes comes across in my speaking or at least I hope it does?

I think networking is a vital part of business development, not that I expect to ever gain any work through networking but I do hope to raise awareness of a North East based software development and IT Services business who offer the best service to our clients where ever they might be.

North east people are the best

I know this is bit for a sweeping statement but i have to say that the reason i started Aspire in the North East was because of the great people who live here! As we all know a business is only as good as the people who work for it.

An Example:
I took my 2 and 1/2 year old son to the Sunderland match on Sunday and the fans around were really nice asking if it was Charlies first game, It was and one guy then said "Please take this money and buy him a Sunderland badge to wear at the games".

The guys around me really made a fuss of Charlie and he loved the experience. My point is that where else do you get a complete stranger handing you money to buy your son a badge and making you feel so welcome, the answer is only in the North East!

I believe this would be the same at Newcastle as well as i believe all north east people are the same really, we might follow different football clubs but all of us in the North East are the same warm and friendly!

So to the person who gave Charlie £2.00 for a badge thanks for making our weekend and proving how great the North East is..

Blackburn and Back

Just had a very good meeting at an international furniture company in Blackburn, really interesting and looks like they like they have a really interesting business, i am looking forward to building a strong relationship with them based on our initial meeting.

NECC Dinner

Everyone i spoke to at the NECC dinner was also attending the Entrepreneurs' Forum Annual Business Conference and were really looking forward to it as much as i am.

NECC DInner

The NECC dinner at the stadium of light was a good night with great after dinner speaking from Steve Cram. It's just a shame the football at the SOL has not been as good of late! Oh well i guess you cannot have everything.
